Surveyed in 1872, life began at Lipson with copper mining. Historical sites including halls, church and cemetery, dating back to the 1800’s are a “must visit”. Be amazed at the hall’s painted ceiling and stage backdrop. Information boards sited at the hall.

I am researching the 440 SA Institutes that we have had, and I’m assuming that the Lipson Hall was once the Lipson Institute. I have a photo of what I believe was the Institute building. I think it was from the State Library and has the no. PRG 280/1/15/217 It is a very imposing stone building and the photo was taken in 1912 at the opening.
Do you have a recent photo of the 1912 Institute building?
I also have a record of an 1898 community hall. I suspect the later hall was built on the first hall’s site. Di you know?
There has been changes to the Lipson Hall since 1912, I believe in 1956 the cloak room, history room & foyer were added as a memorial to all who fort in the wars. I can find out for sure about the location of the building of the Lipson Hall, but as far as I recollect the hall of 1898 was added to and was and still is used as the supper room. Hope this helps.
